| Two for the road 5/20/2007 What an exciting week in Idol land. First, let's start off by saying no one expected Melinda to get booted. She is, as we all know, a great singer. But does she have what it takes to be Idol? We never thought so. Idol is more about having a stage presence and being commercial. And Melinda doesn't have all that going for her. She will definitely be a huge star and we guarantee her album will make some happy record mogul even happier, but an Idol she is not. Now we have two left. We called these two from the start. Jordin and Blake. Blake has some serious girl fan-age out there so he may go the distance. But our girl Jordin actually deserves to win. We at Alfy are rooting for you. She is a true star! | | And Then There Were 3! 5/10/2007 Ooooh! So much to talk about. Did anyone think Andy Gibb was a weird choice to save for the end of the show. We thought he was good, but he really dated the show and as much as we love the Bee Gees, it was a little out of place. Blake was the major disappointment. His two songs sounded old and not exciting in any way. He either has to find a new routine or retire that beat boxing. Melinda was just okay. She’s a great singer, but does she have what it takes to be an Idol? We’re not so sure. LaKisha was fine, but again, a little boring for us. And then there was our girl Jordin. Girlfriend belted it out hard core. And we loved her “Woman in Love” song, and 100% percent did not agree with Simon or Randy when they gave her flack. The elimination episode was definitely a nail biter. We thought it would be Blake or LaKisha, but Blake got spared and LaKisha is going home. She was crying a lot and we felt really bad for her. But who knows, she may get a recording contract or might even have one already. That’s what's so great about the show, even when you lose, you’re still a huge name in the music industry. Our money is on Jordin to take this home. Who are you betting on? | | American Idol Rocked! 5/4/2007 So now you know…Phil and Chris were the two castaways on the American Idol island. It was about time, too, since the rest are definitely the fanatastic four. This week, Bon Jovi rocked the house and tried to make rock stars out of all the contestants. Jordin had the toughest time, but even when she’s okay, she’s awesome. We were very miffed with Simon for giving her such a hard time. Blake was amazing with his beat box spin on a classic tune, and LaKisha was back to her old self. Simon was so happy with her performance that he said “I could kiss you” and then put his pucker where his money was. Their kiss was one of the funniest moments in Idol history, especially when Simon started talking and you could see lip gloss all over his face. We feel bad for the two guys, but they always kind of bored us, so we’re not too crushed. Next week is going to be hot. It’s down to the last four and the heat is definitely on! |
