In the film, the spider that bit Peter Parker and made him a superhero was a steatoda grossa spider. The spider was anesthetized and painted red and blue so that it appeared to be an inspiration for Peter’s costume.

In 2004, Tobey took up playing tournament poker. He hired a coach, Daniel Negreanu, who won the 1998 World Series of Poker, to teach him the ins and outs of the game. Tobey has now become a very good competitive poker player. |  | | Quick Bio: | Tobey was born in 1975 to a construction worker/cook and his secretary girlfriend. His parents divorced within two years of his birth. As a child, he moved between his parents, grandparents and aunts. His mother gave him a $100 reward to choose acting instead of home economics as a school elective. With the encouragement of a neighbor who worked as an entertainment manager, Tobey began to appear in TV commercials. His first TV part was a small role in one of Rodney Dangerfield’s HBO specials. IN 1992, Tobey was chosen for the starring role in a Fox television series called “Great Scott!” While critics applauded his performance, the series lasted for only six episodes. Tobey made his feature film debut in “This Boy’s Life” a year later. His next film role was in a horror movie starring screen legend Mickey Rooney. His performance in “The Ice Storm” (1997) set Tobey on a path to stardom. Over the next three years, he starred in three important films: “Pleasantville” (1998), “The Cider House Rules” (1999) and “Wonder Boys” (2000).
