She auditioned at age 12 for “The Mickey Mouse Club,” but she was not selected. Jessica attended J.J. Pearce High School in Richarson, Texas. While a high school student, she made a gospel record over three years for Proclaim Records, but the label went bankrupt before the release date. Her grandmother paid to record a private album of her songs. Jessica dropped out of high school during her senior year to promote her album. Her father took her on the Christian Youth Concert circuit, and the family sold her album after her performances. One of the people who heard the album was Tommy Mottola, and the rest is history. Since her debut release, Simpson has maintained her place in the pop pantheon by recording by recording a string of successful albums. Her second album, “Irresistible” (2001), reached #3 on the Billboard Top 40 chart. Her third album, “In This Skin,” released in 2003, although less successful among music critics, was buoyed by the success of her reality show with her husband, and eventually reached the #2 position on the charts. During the past few years, Jessica has been featured in several movies: “The Master of Disguise” (2002), “The Dukes of Hazard” (2005) and “Employee of the Month” (2006).
