As a little girl, Jessica spent a lot of time sick in bed watching sports. Her interest in acting began at age five, and her health improved dramatically when the family moved back to California. Jessica took her first acting class at the age of 12, and signed with an agent just nine months later. Jessica made commercials for J.C. Penney and Nintendo. Her first film role was a part in “Camp Nowhere” (1994), a comedy about a summer camp where the kids are in charge. In 1994, Jessica was hired to play a stuck-up teenager in “The Secret World of Alex Mack” on Nickelodeon. She then played Maya in the pilot of the 1995 “Flipper” revival, and stayed on for two seasons, during which time her scuba diving skills were put to good use off the coast of Australia.
